This page explains what information we collect from you, why we collect it, and what we do with it. No legalese where plain English will do.
Who we are
ResumeGuru is a resume writing service operated by ResumeGuru India, registered in India. Our public website is resumeguru.in. For any privacy-related question, write to us at rohit@resumeguru.in.
What we collect
When you fill out a form on this website or start a conversation with us on WhatsApp, we collect:
→Your name, email address, and phone number
→Your current location and the country you are targeting for jobs
→Your current resume, LinkedIn profile, and any background details you share to help us write your documents
→Payment information processed by Razorpay (we do not store card numbers ourselves)
→Standard website analytics: pages visited, time on site, approximate location, device and browser type
→For a public profile you choose to publish, a privacy-light view count: a daily total and whether visits came from a direct link, social, or search. This is aggregate only, with no visitor identification, no cookies, and no IP address stored.
Why we collect it
We use your information for three reasons only:
→To deliver the service you paid for (writing your resume, LinkedIn profile, or cover letter)
→To communicate with you about your order, send drafts, request revisions, and provide support
→To improve our website and service quality through aggregate usage analytics
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with marketing partners. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
How we use AI
CareerOS uses AI (we call the assistant Vale) to review resumes, write drafts, and answer your questions. A few things you should know:
→Vale processes the text you give it (your resume, career details, and conversation) to generate output. It runs on our inference providers for that single request only.
→We do not train AI models on your data. Your content is not used to improve any model without your explicit opt-in.
→Vale remembers facts you tell it so it does not ask twice. This memory lives in our database (Supabase), is shown to you in Settings, and can be edited, turned off, or deleted at any time.
→Vale is built not to invent your experience, skills, or numbers. AI output can still contain mistakes, so review anything before you use it professionally.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted third-party processors to run the service. Each one has access only to the specific data it needs:
→Supabase (database and storage) stores your account, career data, and Vale memory
→Our AI inference provider processes the text of a single request to generate output, with no training on your data
→Razorpay and PayPal (payments) process your payment securely
→Resend (email) delivers transactional and, if you opt in, marketing emails
→Vercel (hosting) hosts the product and, with your consent, basic analytics
Each of these has its own privacy policy. We work only with providers that meet recognised data-protection standards. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Vale conversation logs are kept for 90 days. Billing records are kept for 7 years to comply with Indian tax and accounting law.
When you request account deletion (in Settings, under Data and privacy), we remove your account data. Billing records that the law requires us to keep are retained for the 7-year period with your personal details removed, so the financial record stands without identifying you.
Deletion is a request with a short cancellation window, not an instant irreversible wipe, so an accidental click does not destroy your data.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
→Export your data as a downloadable file from Settings, under Data and privacy
→Request deletion of your account and data from the same place
→View, edit, and delete what Vale remembers about you, or turn that memory off
→Turn marketing emails on or off, and see your consent history
→Ask us to correct anything inaccurate, by writing to rohit@resumeguru.in
We respond to data requests within the time the law requires.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of India and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Where the EU GDPR applies to you, we honour its rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection) through the same controls described above.
Cookies
This website uses minimal cookies. We use them only to remember your preferences (such as your selected currency) and to measure aggregate usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting your ability to use the website.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top of the page. Material changes will also be communicated to existing clients by email. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
